ABSTRACT

Various optically active endo-bicyclo [n,1,0]hex(hept)an-2-ols, were synthesized from the cyclopropanation of cyclopent(hex)en-2-ols and followed by the transesterification of the isoprenyl hexanoate in the presence of Novozym®as catalyst. The enantioselectivity is more satisfactory with endo-bicyclo [4,1,0] heptan-2-ols (E > 60) than with endobicyclo [3,1,0] hexan-2-ols (E < 20).
