Study on the Method of Emotional Speech Recognition Modeling

ABSTRACT

Emotions play a very significant role in speech recognition. The model built on neutral speech degrades dramatically the recognition of emotional speech. How to deal with emotional issues properly is crucial to achieve good performance in recognition. Most widely used approaches include robust feature extraction, speaker normalization and model retraining. In this paper, a novel method is proposed, which is an adaptive method to transform a neutral-based model into emotion-specific one with a small amount of emotional speech data. It is shown experimentally that the new model achieves higher accuracy in overall performance.
