Pyranocarbazole Alkaloids from Malayan (Rutaceae)

ABSTRACT

Murraya koenigii (Curry Leaf), belonging to the Rutaceae family, is native to India and now were also distributed throughout southern Asia. Phytochemical investigation on hexane extract of the bark of Malayan Murraya koenigii has led to the isolation and identification of three pyranocarbazole alkaloids: girinimbine 1, mahanimbine 2 and murrayamine-J 3. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by detailed spectroscopic analysis.
