ABSTRACT

A new modified configuration for the stand-alone photovoltaic (PV) system to electrify a remote area household load in Egypt is presented. The modeling, simulation, and operational control strategy for the system is developed. The developed control aims to optimize the energy flow within the system, such that the load is satisfied independent on the variations in insolation. Also, it aims to protect the battery against overcharging or excessive discharging. Moreover, it aims to protect the global system against the unpredictable excess or deficit of the available energy. The simulation results led to a good realization of the operational control strategy.
